SEMSEOPPCETC
In the world of SEM (Search Engine Marketing) we get to use lots of acronyms. It is a great way for the practitioners of SEM to sound a bit cryptic to the general masses and thereby appear to possesses some knowledge that is above the poor website owner who just wants to get traffic to his or her site.
For example a conversation could go like this:
Website Owner: I want a 30% increase in traffic to my website. Can you do that?
SEM Person: Yes I can.
Website Owner: How?
SEM Person: Well first we need to analyze your site’s SEO level and make the necessary tweaks to content and layout to improve your organic SE ranking. While that is happening our team will develop an SES based on a PPC model. Your SEM will be constantly monitored to determine your CTR and conversions. Then we will be able to determine your ROI from your PPC SEM campaign.
Got it? This may be a bit of an exaggeration but you get the point.
Can we as SEMers (I think I just made that up) get our ideas across to our potential clients using language they can understand?
